16 Vehicles Failed on Emission Test on Jalan Plumpang Raya

North Jakarta Environment Sub-agency Head, Edy Mulyanto, said totally 67 vehicles were raided. In fact, the test was only applied to 59 vehicles since the remaining 14 already took the test.

Edy explained this emission test is routinely carried out in an effort to ensure that all vehicles in Jakarta meet the exhaust gas threshold requirements. This is because motor vehicle emissions are one of the biggest contributors to pollution in Jakarta.
"This raid aims to increase public awareness of the importance of maintaining their motor vehicle emissions. Currently it is just a warning, the officers have not carried out any fines," he explained.
Edy continued planned his side will also provide mobile emission test service to residential.
"The target is 350 vehicles to be tested for first and second quarter in each administration areas. Then 500 vehicles for third quarter," he added.
In accelerating the emission test, coordination and synergy with various parties such as Polda Metro Jaya and Polres continue to be carried out to provide sanctions for vehicles that have not passed the emission test and report the percentage of vehicles that have passed.
Meanwhile, one of vehicle owners, Ahmad Jaya (39), admitted emission test is important to maintain air quality in Jakarta.
"Hopefully this effort can reduce air pollution. I am grateful that the office vehicle I brought has passed the emissions test," he admitted.
